LEVEL 1: You Passed the Physical

Your business is probably in top condition! If you scored in this range, your company appears to be operating smoothly. The key elements necessary to insure survival and continuity, and deal with future uncertainties, are in place. This is not to say that you do not have any areas of vulnerability (every business does) but most aspects of the business are apparently under control.

Prescription: Look over the answers that contributed points to your score and discuss those areas with your management staff. Investigate what corrective measures are appropriate. Establish a priority list of items and work on that list diligently to keep your business in top form.

 

LEVEL 2: Your Business is Running a Fever

No need to panic, but if you scored in this range your company has some serious problems which must be addressed immediately. Your firm is very vulnerable to any number of factors or events which could lead your company into a downward spiral. This score demonstrates there are serious issues in the company that are simply not being addressed. Your firm needs to plan to stop the deterioration and turn the company around. If you could deal with those issues internally, you probably would already have done so.

Prescription: Discuss the issues which have been raised by the test with your management team and get their suggestions for corrective action. Consider getting outside help to formulate and implement solutions in those areas where you may not be able to determine or take appropriate action yourself.

 

LEVEL 3: Surgery is Indicated

This is an emergency alert. If you scored in this range, your company is already in a tailspin and is a candidate for the bankruptcy court. The deterioration has advanced to the point that the very existence of the firm may be in doubt. The owners/managers who have guaranteed bank loans have their personal equity in jeopardy. In order to preserve the business and assets of the firm, you must take immediate action to secure help.

Prescription: Your high score indicates that your firm does not presently have the skills to stop the tailspin and formulate and implement a turnaround program. Call in a turnaround specialist immediately.

 

How Bad is it Doc? Calling in The Business Doctor

In a life-threatening health situation, no one hesitates to call for the doctor. It makes good business sense to treat a company in a tailspin with the same urgency. The proper turnaround manager is a business doctor, brought in to heal the ills of the company before it deteriorates to the point where it can no longer be saved.
